This entailed working with current affairs journalists, vetting thousands of media releases, and pitches for story coverage by PR people and the public, EA role, production, research, contract handling, staffing, eminent guests and celebrities, publicity, presentations, camera crews, photographers, handling outside media, events, property and business management, book publishing, and promotion.

Suzy managed several national media storms swirling around her employer, Derryn Hinch, as the primary point of contact during his infamous court cases, jailing (first time round), and sackings (many), and all his challenges.  Affectionately referred to as the Human Sandbag by Hinch, adversaries were often surprised to learn of a petite blonde at the other end of the phone. The Pocket Rocket label stuck.  

After 12 years and three television networks, following freelance work with PR agencies and theatre publicity, Suzy launched her own PR consultancy.  Running events, launches, media liaison, publicity, publications, and copywriting, gaining television, radio, and print exposure for her clients that ranged in size from the City of Melbourne, major corporates, and universities to small businesses across a wide range of industries.

Later, Suzy stepped back into the television world working as EA to the Seven Network’s National Stylist, which included managing celebrity and designer temperaments, logistics of borrowed fashion houses’ garments, and dealing with production schedules, dollars, and some incredibly fabulous frocks!

Following the halcyon PR days, Suzy worked with her late husband to grow a high-end, award-winning cabinet-making business that featured in several design magazines, while also freelance copywriting. With a massive change of life following her husband’s passing Suzy ventured into e-commerce and digital marketing.

In recent years, pooling a multitude of talent and experience Suzy helped build another successful business, a construction company, assisting to position the company as a respected leader in the sustainable Passive House construction arena.

With her credentials and success in marketing and PR, Suzy established Jaeger Communications offering a bespoke service crafted to meet the individual business needs of SME’s.

Suzy recognises the importance of detail in communication, large and small, which should never be underestimated, nor the tone of voice. Crucially important from website to socials, email, printed materials, media releases, and photography and video.  Jaeger Communications can make all of that happen, collaborating with other talented creatives when required.  Marketing and doing business successfully are all about how you make people feel as they buy your services and products and continue to be clients.
